Still typed 2024.
Only three days before the deadline for the D6 portion of the WSET Diploma on Virginia and I am far from finished, even with the first draft.
I have spent my life doing exams and submitting papers, and I am none the wiser on how to do it in an organised fashion.

Submitted the D6. Feeling unhinged. Prior to submission, I did what I used to do (ten years or so ago!!!) and passed it through an online plagiarism tool. It came back saying 90% plagiarism!!!!
My heart sank.
I upgraded to the paid version, and when I did that? The plagiarism disappeared. Isn’t that illegal? Did that twice. Once with a tool called Justdone AI, and the other ExpertChat. Same story.
Anyway, still feel like there’ll be something wrong with it and that, ultimately, I am a fraud.

Slurping Sherry at 10am. Breakfast of Champions in preparation for D5 that will happen in 5 days. WSET says the acidity of Sherry is Low to Medium, but find that the wines I’ve tasted to be High or, at the very least, M+. Details. Also, I am getting confused with Amber and Brown when it comes to Amontillado/Palo Cortado and Oloroso. More details.

How to win an election
How the fuck do you tell workers in a democracy that they are economically useless and as close to deadweight as possible?
Spoiler alert: you don’t.
Well, then how do you tell workers in a dictatorship that they are equally useless? Also, you don’t. You make them work twenty hours a day in a factory, make them sleep on the same premises until many of them kill themselves or, at least, until the company and the state have created enough GDP out of the extra working hours. Simple.
In a democratic state, instead, you can’t adopt such tricks. Not openly, at least, because those are the people that hold the power to vote.
They hold one vote.
If you tell them that the life they have been living is no longer a way to make ends meet, they will burn you to the ground. What do you mean? I have been a factory worker all my fucking life. I have been a body shop worker all my fucking life. The best body shop worker, what do you mean, there is no space for those skills anymore? It’s you who are ignorant, a man with a degree that doesn’t even know which way the weehls turn.
Who am I to make this claims? I am one of those economically uselles person, the daughter of two more, who lived in a town where we were surrounded by such people. I have studied and got out of there, but in my mind, I am still there, struggling to make ends meet, scraping for the dignity of glorified work, while turning bitter for the little humiliations we had to suffer when we didn’t. I moved to the UK, and hearing my middle class in-laws saying that the “working classes” don’t have any choices in working during Covid and the state should pay for them to stay at home, one example, made my fucking blood boil. What the fuck do they know? These pretend socialists, joining protests and having their house bought by their parents. They are the deadweight, perhaps they are fighting for what they will become, the new deadweight.
